We moved into our new house 2 years ago and we love it. It’s a lot of work but I think in the end it will be worth it. The only concern I have had is that we live on a busy street and there is a lot of foot traffic. I also work at home fulltime and am by myself a lot so security has become a concern. I am not always comfortable opening the door to anyone since we don’t have a door you can really see through. I was considering purchasing one of the doorbell camera’s when the opportunity arose for my family to try out the Netgear Arlo Smart Home HD Camera Set I jumped at it.

This products enables you to safeguard your home or business with the 4 motion-activated Netgear Arlo Smart Home security cameras. The system is completely wire free, for use inside and outside – weatherproof for temperatures ranging from 14° to 122°. You can view the system on apps that enable you to view live video from your compatible Android, Apple® iOS, Amazon Kindle, Windows or Mac device. The cameras are motion-activated designed to automatically record motion once detected, sending e-mail or app notifications. They are compact and really sturdy. I was really impressed at how well built they were.
The system also works with other Netgear products like the new Netgear® Nighthawk™ DST Router and DST Adapter with Geek Squad (exclusively at Best Buy). We have a lot of devices hooked up to the internet in our house – with 3 kids, 2 of them teenagers, it can cause a lot of drag on the modem. With the router and adapter hooked up we were able to run everything plus the new cameras. The adapter really helped out the camera we put in the back of the house covering the backyard because it can be a bit of a dead zone.

(Additional adapters can be purchased for other dead zones in your house) It’s great for when I am working on the deck. What I like the most about this router is that it uses BOTH WiFi bands. My computer and my iPad run on different GHz and I have noticed a HUGE difference with the speed of the devices. They work much better.
So we finally had a chance to set up the cameras and we assumed it was going to take awhile to get it all up, running and configured. The set up was so straight forward it took us a total of 20 minutes to get the camera’s working and then about 35-40 minutes to get them installed outside.
My husband was extremely surprised and happy at how quick it was. The directions were really simple. It was the easiest time we have had setting up anything connected to the internet.
The cameras are super clear. There is only about a 3 second lag from the camera and the app. Below is the night vision. I was watching for awhile and I could not believe how clear the cameras were at night.
This is a relief because we will be at my mom’s for Halloween and I am so glad we will be able to watch our house when we are gone. All shenanigans will be caught if the kids decide to mess around.
It also catches the shenanigans INSIDE the house too (see above). This is another cool feature – you can screen shot anything you are seeing on the camera. You can also record what you are watching and download it straight to your computer.
I can’t wait to see what my cats get up to while I am gone. We always come home to things being in odd places so it will be awesome to see how they do it. I am also happy to have it when my youngest daughter is sick. The motion detector will be handy so we will know immediately if she is up and needs us. She has an asthma like condition plus allergies so it will definitely make me feel safer about her sleeping in her room alone when she is under the weather.
I am definitely in love with the NETGEAR Arlo Smart Home System. I was actually really skeptical at just how these cameras would work and if the quality was really going to be there. It is worth the money and I have already recommended it to a few people. If you are looking into a quality, expandable home security system seriously check out the Arlo Smart Home. It’s ridiculously cool and simple to deal with.
