When I moved out here to Illinois from Rhode Island I pretty much resigned myself to NEVER driving on the highway out here and I definitely was not driving into Chicago on the tollway.. People drive like lunatics and they have these towering off ramps that look like a hills from a reoccurring nightmare I’ve had since I was little when the car falls backward going up the hill and I plummet to my death. Fast forward – I have lived in IL now for almost 10 years. I finally drove on the highway. I conquered a ramp that terrified me. I did it all by myself. No one was in the car. I drove into the city on the tollway and even drove in the city by myself. Honestly I have been shocked every time I achieve a new milestone. My anxiety has been so bad that even driving for a few years was sketchy. So, that’s the bravest thing I have done in the past 8 years. Before that? Giving birth to my kids. 😉
