I have been trying my hardest to be as green as I can when it comes to shopping. I love reusable shopping bags. A lot of stores are offering really cute bags now in an effort to be green. My favorite shopping bags I have now are my Trader Joe’s red canvas bag, my new bag I won on @moracmama ‘s site and my cute bird bag from Joann’s Fabric.
I don’t know about your kids, but mine will use these type of things more if they have input in them or in my middle daughter’s (CraftyKid) case, she designs it herself. Lately I have had it with her choice of plastic bag to carry her gym shoes to school. The plastic bags break, she drops her shoes in mud, puddles…etc etc. Yuck and crabby mama as a result. I abhor cleaning shoes. So here’s my idea… she already designed a cool new school bag for herself, why not a reusable shopping bag for her shoes and what not. She’s going to a Dude Ranch this weekend so this project is out until next weekend, but I’ll post pics when we do it. In the meantime, here’s my instructions. If you make it with your kids, let me know or post a pic! Happy Crafting!
{materials}
*One reusable shopping bag (canvas is better if you can find it)

*cookie cutters and/or stencils
*pencil or marker to trace the shapes
*sponge brushes & paint brushes
(optional) glitter, colored glue, felt shapes, ribbon

If you want to get even ‘greener’ use organic paints & potato stamps!
