Crafty Kids –
Could They All Be?
As a mother of six (6) kids being crafty is common place. It’s possible that it’s out of necessity (hey, kids are EXPENSIVE!) but lucky for me, so far everyone enjoys crafting to some degree.
Who’s Crafting What?
I remember enjoying arts&crafts from the moment I got a real taste, kindergarten. Crafts all day long – building, coloring, gluing & sometimes even food projects! Things didn’t stop there; I took what was then called “Home Economics” since I was eligible and every year after. I learned to cook, draw (sort of), embroider, etch, sew & a number of other skills.
The kids seem to enjoy crafting as well. Nehemiah is an artist of the pencil – he loves to draw! Evangelyna is an artist of fashion – she’s terrific and co-coordinating this and that to make a cohesive & snazzy outfit! Jezzabella is an arts&craft lover – period! Adonijah is a builder, he LOVES to build things & tie knots! Mercirita is little color monster, that may be her favorite pastime!
Will It Last?
Jezzabella is the one who volunteers to make birthday and other holiday cards; as well as wrap the gifts. She is always asking to be taught this or that – whatever we are doing. Request to bake, cook, crochet, draw, garden, sew & everything in between – she may be a lifetime crafty-girl.
Only time will truly reveal how artistic & crafty my children will continue to be. Until then I will continue to expose them to a wide variety of arts and crafts as much as possible. Teaching them everyone I know & learning with them everything I don’t.
What will you be doing to nurture crafty kids?
