An interview with Paige Whiskey – a sassy witch with the whole world on her shoulders.
I hope you’re the blog tour for Blood Moon Magick! I just want to thank our blog host for letting us be here today. With me is Paige Whiskey. Please help me welcome her!
Paige: turns and waves to the audience It’s a pleasure to be here today.
Frankie: Tell us a little bit about what’s going on?
Paige: Well, we’re already into book 4, now, Witches of the West, and things are a lot more witchy and a lot more shape-shiftery. It’s a lot of fun.
Frankie: What are you enjoying the most?
Paige: Spending time with the pack, actually. They’re just very nurturing without smothering. They let you go out and break yourself, patch you back up, smack you on the back of the head, and then send you off on your way again. And we’re all raising the kids. They’re helping to raise ours and we’re helping to raise theirs. It’s kinda awesome.
Frankie: I don’t want to give too many spoilers away.
Paige: Me either. It’s just a lot of fun and I’m having a great time with it.
Frankie: What can you tell us about our villain?
Paige: She’s a maniac.
Frankie: More than that?
Paige: Well, don’t think that Sven’s disappeared because he hasn’t. Just the other day, he popped back up on the radar, so I have a feeling he’ll be back in our lives. That frelling assbutt. But our new villain is Merry Eastwood and she’s vicious. And strong. She’s…formidable.
Frankie: Do you think you’re going to be able to defeat her?
Paige: I don’t know, honestly. I mean, we’re trying. We’ve got a lot of allies now, and that’s good. It really is, but she dabbles in black magick, and that’s not something you win against easily.
Frankie: Tell me a little bit about how the magick is developing in the series.
Paige: Oh. Good question. Yeah, that is developing quite nicely, actually. At the beginning of the series, magick is kinda new to me. Again because my gifts were just reopened and everything. Then, I learn some pretty incredible stuff on the elemental side of things in Blood Moon Magick. But going home to a family of witches really changes things. I’m surrounded by other witches and they see me as an equal, finally, who they shouldn’t fear. I’m learning a lot.
Frankie: That’s awesome. Like what?
Paige: Well, like spell-craft. The one thing I kept hitting my head against in Blood Moon Magick was that I didn’t know enough of the witch stuff, the spell stuff. There was probably a lot more I could have done if I’d just known more. I hit my head against that same wall in Barrel of Whiskey, and I learn a bit more, but not a lot. I’m learning a lot now.
Frankie: Like?
Paige: Like how to make my own broom.
Frankie: Wow. Awesome. Are you going to fly it?
Paige: huge grin I’m not going to say we don’t discover that.
Frankie: That’s awesome. What’s the coolest thing that happens in Blood Moon Magick?
Paige: Oh my word. Just a lot happens in that book. A lot. The shifter element really adds a lot of scope and depth to the entire series. Having Dexx bitten has been great.
Frankie: Were you ever worried?
Paige: You’re the author and you’re insane. Of course I was worried.
Frankie: chuckling What can you tell us about your romance with Dexx?
Paige: bites bottom lip Well, it’s going well. He’s not the typical guy, you know. I find I’m able to just be me. I romance him through the art of the burp, you know.
Frankie: That’s gross.
Paige: Well, it’s not for everyone. We have our off days and our on days and we’re just us. And we’re better together than apart.
Frankie: Are you worried that him being a shifter will change that?
Paige: Honestly, yes. There’s a part of me that remains hopeful that we won’t let it come between us, but then there’s Merry Eastwood and she stoops to levels we don’t.
Frankie: I’d really like to ask you more, but that’s all the time we have right now.
Paige: Oh. Bummer. I was just starting to warm up to this.
Frankie: Ah, no worries. I’m sure there’ll be more.
Paige: Oh, good.
Frankie: Well, thank everyone for being here. I hope you enjoyed this stop. If you have more questions for Paige, please contact me through Facebook, Twitter, or comment on this blog post. Thank you and have a super lovely day!
Detective Paige Whiskey has a lot on her plate. A gate to Hell is permanently seared into her soul and she has no way of controlling it. She let a psychotic serial killing demon free in exchange for Dexx’s life. Her sister is about to have a baby and a whole world of crazy has opened in the Whiskey household. And, if that wasn’t enough, she and Dexx are trying to figure out their relationship.
They’re about to discover a world that has been hidden from the Whiskeys. A world of shapeshifters, werewolves, and vampires. A world that was hidden to end a bloody war. A war between shifters and witches.
Paige has to make a decision. Solve this murder and start a war? Or ignore it and keep her family safe?
But when Dexx is bitten, all everything changes. War? Or love?
Why is nothing ever simple?
