{JumpStart Review & Giveaway}
When my two older kids were younger they loved JumpStart products. The games gave them a sense of independence and they felt “grownup” because they got to play games on the computer like Mom. As time went on they basically moved on from them to more advanced things like the DS games and the Wii and I actually totally forgot about these games.
Then I was offered an opportunity to test out their online membership. I am beyond disbelief at how much this company has advanced. They have Wii games, DS games, PC games, down-loadable games and a online membership program.
I was given an online membership for me and my girls to try out, who are 10 and 4 years old. My son is 13 so it was a little young for him, but I did catch him looking over his sister’s shoulder a few times in interest.
{My Review}
My 10 year old chose to try out the online membership and my 4 year old tried the down loadable software.
*As a rule, my 4 year old has not shown interest in computer games. She loves the Wii and her Leapster, but usually has no interest in PC games at all. She was begging me to play these games. She tried out the 3-5 & 4-6 down-loadable games. She absolutely adored the 3-5 game. She loved that you can make your own character(avatar) and all the mini games you have to play to unlock certain aspects of the game were her favorite. If you complete certain tasks it unlocks books that the software reads to you. I have never seen her soo determined. In the 4-6 game she liked it but is mainly keyboard controlled and being a PC novice she had a hard time with that, so I had to move her to the correct spots and then she would play the games. I think that once she plays this more she will love it. She seems awful determined to learn how to do it! All in all I was really pleased with the programs and my 4 year old has been playing at least every other day since I downloaded them.
*My 10 year old is very similar. She is not really into PC games. She was when she was younger, she actually played them all the time. I was amazed at how much she liked the online games. We were all very sick two weeks ago and she pulled out her little netbook and logged into Jumpstart and started playing Futureland, the dragon training, Marineland and was glued to the computer for quite along time until I called her off for lunch. This went on over the coarse of days when we were sick. One of the days I asked her what she learned from the games that day and she said “Aliens are mean”. LOL We then got 20 inches of snow-same thing. So thank you JumpStart for entertaining her!
She wrote a review of her own. To read it click here:

*As a parent I am wary about having my kids “learn” from technology. I was really happy with the type of learning the kids got and are still getting from these programs. I was loving the focus I was seeing from my four year old. It really brought out her problem solving skills that I didn’t know she had yet. I also liked how well the programs are designed for the older children. It stays at their level and keeps it interesting for them. Like I said, it even sparked my 13 year olds attention. A few other great features are the JumpStart Blog and The Parents Center that comes with the downloadable games. The JumpStart Blog is a very cool place for a parent to see what’s new with JumpStart and see what other parents are saying about the products. The Parent Center comes with the down-loadable games and it is an area for the parents to view their childs progress and control certain settings of the game. I really liked that part. It show what achievements my 4 year old had received and what she had left to accomplish.
I am happy to tell you that I have been given a 3 month online membership to give to one of my readers worth $23.97.
