I have been given this Theraspecs product as part of a product review through the Chronic Illness Bloggers network. Although the product was a gift, all opinions in this review remain my own and I was in no way influenced by the company.
Living with Chronic Pain: Theraspecs
There is a myriad of symptoms you have to deal with when you suffer from Fibromyalgia. Some of the major ones I deal with are extreme fatigue, insomnia, bursitis and extreme light sensitivity (photophobia). Some of these I take with stride, but the light sensitivity is one that dictates my daily life.
It can be anything from a small beam of light poking through the curtain to any form of light, electric, natural etc. I have been suffering from it as far back as I can remember.
When I was a child, teenager, and young adult, it caused severe migraines that the doctors could never seem to cure. They tried fixing my severe TMJ, no luck. Adjusting my vitamin levels, sleep positions, prescribing glasses and even an inhaler also produced no relief.
In my 30s when my fibro finally was unable to hide anymore, my migraines turned into fibro headaches. Fibro headaches make me wish for my migraines back. Fibro headaches do not respond to anything at all. There is no relief and medication don’t touch them at all.
As these headaches have progressed over the years I have been known to lose days of my life. Nothing but a dark room will do and since I have three kids, it’s been a serious struggle. I had to stop working out of the house due to the headaches and my chronic pain.
I will do anything not to get these headaches. The problem with preventing them? Just walking out of my dark room in the morning can trigger one. I even came down with one on a particularly bright night, just from the moonlight.
For the past few years, I have been using computer glasses to help filter the blue light that is the cause of the triggers. I can’t wear them all the time though because they are not made for multi-use. I also have a pair of migraine glasses that do work, but an issue I have is that the shape is narrow and light can still leak through which makes it hard to wear them outside.
Enter Theraspecs.
Theraspecs have a specialty tint that has distinct, known, and predictable light filtering properties. This is different than a typical tint where the specific filtering properties are unknown or vary with each lens application. Other glasses may appear to have a similar reddish tint. However, they do not focus on the specific parts of light that cause or exacerbate such problems as migraines, eyestrain, headaches, and exhaustion. But through precision tint, each pair of TheraSpecs accurately filters that problematic light.
TheraSpecs are thoughtfully designed to reduce pressure on the head and are durable for all-day wear. Available in an array of styles, they come with indoor or outdoor lenses, which means whether you’re looking for migraine glasses, migraine sunglasses, computer glasses or glasses for fluorescent lighting, you are covered.
Now, these glasses are not guaranteed to help you when you are driving at night, but I have used them successfully. The Pilot Theraspecs (Indoor) I have been trying out work amazing on overcast days outside and in stores that have fluorescent lights.
I like them a lot too because my style of sunglasses I LOVE are aviators and these Pilots fit just like my sunglasses, I sometimes forget I am wearing them, they are so lightweight. Theraspecs also comes with a cute little carrying bag so I can pop them in my purse just in case I need them.
Unlike other photophobia glasses, Theraspecs come in a ton of stylish designs and frames. There is a lot to choose from and you can pick a style that suits your face! You don’t have to be limited to bulky, unattractive frames.
See all the styles on the Theraspecs website and see what you like best! If you are tired of suffering, I highly suggest you considering looking into these terrific glasses.
