Fatigue Sucks. I really think the hardest part about having fibromyalgia is the fatigue. I have had it as far back as my 20’s. I always knew after I had my second child that something was off about my body. I was called every name in the book. Lazy. Depressive. Anxiety ridden. Hypochondriac. I always attributed it to the “hormonal imbalance” I supposedly had. (Ended up being a strange form of PCOS) For the past 12 years of my life I have just been tired. Mornings are my enemy. Nights are my enemy. Anything involving sleep is my enemy. It makes you angry. Very angry. The hardest part is being surrounded by people who sleep comes easy to, who don’t understand why you can’t just pop out of bed in the morning and get on with your day. If I could pop I would pop. Just not possible.
Last week out of fatigue I had an epic fail. My son has started track again, my middle daughter is back on stage crew. Lulu is wrapping up preschool. I have 3 school registrations to get in, 2 big ones. T will be going in to high school {ugh} and Lulu will be entering Kindergarten {double ugh}. It’s all taking a toll on me. I’m trying to keep up and last Friday after getting Bean off to her Girl Scout overnight, I sat down to watch a movie with my son and husband trying to just get a feeling of normalcy for a bit. I stayed up too late and when I went to bed I took ibuprofen instead of my gabapentin. Not good. Why you ask? I take 800mg of ibuprofen for my bursitis. I take 900mg of gabapentin at bed time (600mg during the day). Stay with me…..I usually cut the gabapentin in half to get that extra 300mg. So..I unknowingly cut my ibuprofen in half to make a total of 1100mg of ibuprofen. I was up all night sick to my stomach and I couldn’t figure out why. I took the wrong meds again in the morning out of the same bottle not knowing yet what I had done. I missed two doses of my fibro meds. It was bad. All my charlie horses came back in full swing. My neuropathy is back in my hands and feet, but is slowly dissipating.
I learned two things from this:
- Mark the bottles of meds I get if they look similar.
- My meds are working.
My insomnia and fatigue is back full force. If you see me on FaceBook at 3 am you’ll know why. I got my b12 shot today and I hope it works. I need to heal quicker. I’ve got stuff to do!
To sum it all up: Fibro Sucks. Fatigue Sucks. I won’t let it win.
On a positive note: Dr. Oz ,who usually gets on my nerves, did a positive thing for fibro suffers. He shed light on why it happens, that it’s real and some things to do to ease your discomfort if you have it.
