I got a call today from my Rheumo doctor about my blood work I had done on Friday. First off, I was really looking forward to a doctor/procedure free week I had ahead of me. She was rechecking my Vitamin B levels that had previously been a little low in my last blood test. I’ve been taking Vit B pills but I guess this time they were really low this time so I have to go Tuesday (probably right around when this post goes up) to get a Vitamin B12 shot. I also have to go on Friday and get an MRI of my right hand to see if Rheumatoid Arthritis is hiding in my hand. The kicker? I was supposed to get an MRI of both hands, but my stupid insurance company will only authorize one hand.
Enter yet again another pity party(party of one) for the second time in three months.
Here’s the thing.
- I am sick of taking medicine already. The amount of pills I have to take keeps increasing every day.
- I might have to get this shot every week. EVERY WEEK. Yeah, ok. I’ll just squeeze that in somewhere…..
- I’m 34. THIRTY FOUR. I am way to young to have this many things wrong with me.
- I am really tired. Between my kids and I- we had three doctors appointments last week alone. That may not sound like a lot to you…but two were on Friday in towns that were 15 miles apart. The other was my Rheumo appointment that I got my cortisone shot at, which took me until Friday to start recovering from-I don’t handle steroids very well.
- Honestly? I am just pissed. It makes it worse when people treat it as a non-issue. Sure it’s a non-issue when it’s not your body.
I just hope this B12 at least gives me more energy. The thing is…it feels like a double edged sword. I get more energy…but in a body that I can’t make use of it or I’ll pay for it?
Is there a balance? Has anyone found it? Have you tried the shots along side fibromyalgia? Did it work?
**Update: I raced from work to get this shot only to be told by my GP’s nurse that she isn’t convinced that I need the shot. So basically (remember this is the doctor who couldn’t figure out was wrong with me for almost 4 years, sent me to her friend the rheumatologist who basically said I was a hypochondriac) she is questioning the decision of the only doctor in 5 years that has taken me seriously. Here we go again..**
