I have a question. When did a size 8-9 or size 10-12 become plus size? Seriously. I consider it REAL size. The fashion industry apparently does not agree with me.
I was really skinny my whole adolescent life. It was very hard. I think any one that has a “different” body type can relate. Instead of “Oh my God you are so fat” I got “Oh my God you are soo skinny it’s almost sick!” Nice. It didn’t help that I was a 34 B by 8th grade either.
For all it’s faults, I am comfortable with my body. It’s created 3 fabulous kids, and my legs don’t look like twigs anymore. I have a few lumps and bumps that I could do with out, but for the most part I can’t complain. I am very curvy though, which makes it hard to shop in a conventional store. Usually if I am looking for something nice to wear it’s off to the dressing room for me. It takes quite a few outfits and a few tears to find something I like. For that reason, I like to shop at Lane Bryant if I am near one. For the past 8 years Lane Bryant is the ONLY place I trust to buy bras. I am now a 38DD on a good day. Most stores don’t carry my size and if they do the bras are usually NOT attractive. I also have had luck at Lane Bryant’s sister stores Catherine’s & Fashion Bug. When I heard that the company that owns these stores was launching a new tool to the website I was all over it! Here’s a little more about it:
This fall, Lane Bryant and sister brands Sonsi, Catherines and Fashion Bug, are launching a breakthrough technology that will make shopping for clothes online a cakewalk for plus size women, because it solves their biggest dilemma: the dreaded FIT issue. The new online technology is truly revolutionary. In just 3 minutes, with no measurements required, plus size women will have access to a world of plus size fashions that cater to their unique body shapes and style preferences. This has never been done before.
It’s taken the biggest names in the plus size fashion industry, a team of mathematicians and computer scientists to finally solve the fit issue for millions of plus size women.
The new “Math meets Fashion, Fit meets Style” technology goes live September 12!
So I headed over to the Sonsi website to check it out.
Once you hit the Get Started button it takes you to 3 surveys, Top, Bottom & Bras.
I started my survey……want to see my results?
Yeah that’s me! Fearlessly Confident! 😉 I agreed with almost everything in the description. It totally fit my style type. After you create an account or log in you can save your style type and move on to creating a new outfit. This is to me, a fantastic alternative to the Dreaded Dressing Room. Sonsi gives you suggestions of what would fit your body type best and offers clothes that fit that description.
When you are done, if you need to go back to the survey or your profile, click Style Profile and it will take you to this screen:
All in all I am REALLY impressed with Fashion Genius. It’s very intuitive and picked out clothes that were very close to my own style and preference. If you hate dressing rooms (and their horrible mirrors and lighting) as much as me, you will love this tool. I have been a long time fan of this company and this just made me an even bigger fan. Don’t just take my word for it. Try out this tool for yourself by visiting Sonsi.LaneBryant.com
