Happy Holidays!! No matter which holiday you celebrate cookies are always present. What better to spread cheer and love than a warm, yummy cookie? I am not a huge cookie person but for some reason during the holidays I can’t help but indulge.
We have certain traditions in my family when it comes to cookies. We get together, make large batches of the family favorites including sugar cookies and peanut butter blossoms. Sometimes we mix it up and throw some other fancy ones in there, but for the most part we stick to ones we know we love.
I decided to recruit my 9 year old this year. She has become more and more interested in cooking and baking. She’s not the neatest chef but she gets points for enthusiasm. Her knife skills are definitely better than mine at 9. We grabbed some Betty Crocker Peanut Butter, Sugar Cookie and Chocolate Chip Mixes at Walmart to make her first experience a little easier. She wanted to try her hand at making icing also. I found an awesome, easy icing recipe for her to try that was eggless and dairy free. (She has allergies to these when they are uncooked)
Our finished product! It was so easy and she did it all by herself. We actually used rose icing for the red….little fact: it makes an awesome RED on sugar cookies. For some reason that is the color it dries.
We also made my favorite peanut butter blossoms. We changed it up with white chocolate chocolates this year. I loved the way they came out.
I may or may not have broken a piece off and ate it before I took this picture……
Liv and I decided we were going to spread cheer to my mom this year. It’s been a long year for all us and she is always doing stuff for everyone. It was easy to put together, especially with all the cute printables on Betty Crockers site. They have gift tags and cute coloring pages you can print out to fancy up your gift!
Liv’s creations!
The sneak attack!
She was surprised!! Success.
This was such a fun experience to have with my daughter. It was easy, messy and delicious. All my favorite things in life. Plus we got to put a smile on someone’s face. Doesn’t get any better than that.
