Great Simple Craft for Spring or Easter
Styrofoam Bunny-Chick Craft Project
When I was little my mom and I used to make these cute little bunnies and chicks in celebration of Easter and Spring. I wanted to make these with my girls so we set out to replicate them. Not all of the same materials were available that we had when I was little but we made these little guys with what we found and I have to say…they came out pretty cute!
What you need for the project:
*Glue gun and foam glue sticks for the gun
*white and yellow pipe cleaners
*multi-colored chenille bump stems (make sure there is white, yellow and pink)you might need 5 packages to get enough of the colors.
*small styrofoam balls
*googly eyes
*pink pom-poms
*scissors
Start by separating all the chenille bumps stems by color. Take the white/yellow stems and cut in between each bump to make the bottom of the rabbit or chick. Pick a middle on the styrofoam ball and insert one end of the cut stem in that middle and stretch it to the opposite side and insert other end. Continue all the way around.
Using a chenille bump stem as a guide for size- measure and cut the regular pipe cleaners (white or yellow) and do the exact same thing as you did for the bottom. Then using the foam glue sticks in the glue gun, glue the top and bottom together.
While you are waiting for the glue to dry make the bunnies ears. Take two chenille bumps (not cut) twist a single pink one in the middle of the two white bumps. Then twist the white bottoms together. Make two of these and stick them in the top of the head. Take two of the stems and make a c with them and stick them in the sides for the arms. To make the feet and the tail twist a regular pipe cleaner into a tear drop and stick two of them in front and one in the back.
The carrot is just a double orange and green chenille bump stem twisted together.
Add a cute little pink pom-pom nose or orange beak and wha-la! The cutest chick or bunny you have ever seen. 😉 We added a dapper bow too.
