The Real Deal Veggie Chips
When my oldest kids were toddlers I was that “weird” mom who fed her kids veggie straws and organic snacks. I couldn’t always afford it, we were really young and living on an income that shocks me we survived on. I searched for sales, saved up and tried to make sure that at least when they were with me, they ate pretty well. It’s hard to keep up with. There are always temptations. I fell into the trap this holiday season and I was not eating well at all.
Luckily when my youngest was born in 2006 the snack industry had come a long way. It’s cheaper to eat healthy now and the food tastes waaay better. I was psyched that I was given a chance to review The Real Deal Veggie Chips. I was hoping it would improve my bad snacking habits (and my family’s) that we developed over the holidays. Since veggie straws and chips have been a family favorite since 1998, I figured I wouldn’t have to twist their arms to try it.
I had never noticed them in the store for some reason but I was impressed by the flavors. I was also impressed that there are non-gmo ingredients. My husband and I have been noticing that we can not tolerate GMO products so we have been trying to cut them out the best we can.
Sriracha is a staple in our house so that flavor was the first to be ripped into. The consensus was that they are pretty darn tasty. The texture is a little different than they other chips that we have tried, but they taste really good. This is hard to come by with non junk food snacks. My youngest said the White Cheddar tasted like cheese puffs. That is HIGH praise from her. 🙂 I personally liked the Sriracha and Original. I liked the crunch and they totally made me forget I wasn’t eating my beloved corn chips. How cool is it that one of the 100 calorie snack bags is serving and a half of vegetables plus all of them are gluten free. I am gluten sensitive because of my fibro, so that is a huge plus for me.
The veggie chips were all given a thumbs up from all five My Crafty Life family members. They have now been added to the weekly shopping list. I am happy to have a snack that will keep my salty, junk food cravings at bay.
