Fresh Air, Fresh Start.
The Venta Airwasher is a 24-hour-a-day, 7-days-a-week, 365-days-a-year product. Our revolutionary cold evaporation humidification method ensures that it will never overhumidify your home. Your Airwasher does not force moisture into the air as other humidifiers do. When your room air is perfectly hydrated, it will simply stop taking moisture, and your unit will continue its purification of your environment.
When I was approached to review the Venta Airwasher, I have to admit, I wasn’t super inclined to say yes. I have reviewed a few air cleaners and only one so far has made it to the blog. I usually only post things I can honestly promote and use. I feel like it’s a waste of my time and yours to write a review about something that will do just that. Waste your time. Then I went to the Venta website. I was so impressed with their claims of what these airwashers can do that I was compelled to give it a try. First of all, it’s an airwasher. Not air cleaner. There are no filters, nothing to replace and it runs on water. You got it. Water. The company sent me a LW45 Venta Airwasher to test out.
The AirWasher came with instructions and 4 sample bottles of Venta Water Treatment Additive that helps maintain hygienic conditions in the lower housing and to improve the evaporation process. You can purchase a full size bottle on the site for $22.99 and it lasts for approximately 5 months. That was it. It was easy to set up and the instructions were simple and clear. All I had to do was fill the unit with water to the fill level, add the treatment and it was ready to go and running.
My entire household has really bad seasonal and indoor allergies. My son has a form of asthma and my youngest daughter has severe allergy attacks as soon as tree pollen makes it appearance. My middle daughter, as well as myself, get severe nose bleeds. The problem with air cleaners is that they tend to dry the air out, even if you use Hepa Filters. Humidifiers add too much moisture to the air and can promote mold growth. We have tried all of these and haven’t been able to maintain a balance for all our ailments. On top of that we have been hit with probably one of the worst flu and cold seasons that I can remember since my 17 year old was 2. No matter what I did to sanitize the house surface-wise, as soon as I got the kids better and back to school they would bring a new virus home. I have fibro and a few other health conditions so I basically have been run down and sick since September. We have been on the mend but I really have no desire to go through something like that again.
I have been running the AirWasher for a month and I am happy to report that we have only had one stomach virus and no one else in the house got it. So Venta’s claims that the Airwasher sanitizes the air seems to hold true. I also have only had one bad nose bleed which is pretty good for April. My daughter has only reported a few too, but she hasn’t been home much due to the spring musical so I can’t really call her a test subject. I have also noticed that my husband and son seem to be complaining less of stuffiness and sinus pain. I can tell when the unit runs out of water. It’s crazy. I start sneezing and my eyes start to water. Funny fact: I have to vacuum the top of my unit every other day because my rescue cat Frosty loves to sniff the clean air coming out of the AirWasher. He had a bad respiratory issue when he was a small kitten and has developed asthma/allergies. He LOVES it. The barrels rolling when they clean the air also fascinate him. 🙂 My other cat Aura has seen Frosty do it so she has also been following suit. Since both have breathing issues, I am happy it’s helping them.
You need to fill it up everyday and add the water additive every two weeks. Easy maintenance in my opinion. I use an old apple juice container that I cleaned out because it has a handle and is easy for these fibo hands to deal with to fill up the unit. Much easier than carrying it around. I have been running it on 3 since we have been using it and I think I am going to keep it on that setting until tree pollen season is over and school is out. (Yay to no germs!)
Here are some tips from the company:
- The only needed daily maintenance for the Venta Airwasher is to fill it with water. Nothing needs to be emptied! We recommend establishing a regular time each day for “Airwasher watering”, so it becomes a part of your daily routine.
- In order for your Airwasher to establish a steady moisture level in your home, we ask that you run the Airwasher around the clock for 7-10 days on the highest setting after you receive it.
- When filling your Airwasher with water, make sure that the upper housing containing the motor and cord is FAR AWAY. Some customers have accidentally spilled water on their upper housing while filling their units and have then had electrical issues with their Airwasher.
- The optimal placement for your Airwasher is two feet from the wall, with neither of the vented sides facing the wall.
- If you’re interested in adding fragrances to the perfectly humidified air coming from the Venta Airwasher, we have our own 100% natural, essential oils that have been developed and tested specifically for use in the Venta Airwasher. These are the only fragrances approved by Venta for use in the Airwasher and are available for purchase on our website at https://www.venta-airwasher.com/venta_shop/ (I also was told that there will be a ALL-NEW VENTA AROMATHERAPY LINE IN EARLY SUMMER 2015!)
I can honestly say that the Venta AirWasher has far exceeded my expectations and I will definitely be recommended it to anyone I know with allergies/asthma. I am not required to say this, I really am very impressed. It will save me a ton on electricity (energy-efficient, requires little power <10 watts), tissues, saline spray, meds etc. The units range from $219-$399 and have a 2 year warranty. Did I mention their US headquarters is based in Chicago? It’s a bonus that they are a local company!
