I have been given this product as part of a product review through the Chronic Illness Bloggers network. Although the product was a gift, all opinions in this review remain my own and I was in no way influenced by the company.
My husband and I both suffer from IBS/IBD in different forms. My stems from my fibro and from what I believe is the multiple doses of antibiotics when I was younger. His is from birth, his digestive system has never been right. He had to have surgery to correct problems when he was younger. I wanted to try Visbiome because I was awed by the 112.5 billion bacteria per capsule. That is hard to find in non-prescription doses of probiotics. Visbiome also has a special container that keeps the bacteria from breaking down. That is a HUGE problem with live strains of probiotics. They break down very quickly and their effectiveness is depleted very quickly as well.
I started taking the pills immediately after receiving them. My husband did also. He noticed a difference right away. It took me a few days before I did. I started having a lot of gastral pain but I quickly figured out it was the lactose in the pills. Sometimes it bothers me other times it doesn’t. My husband was really happy with them so he continued the trial and took them for 3 weeks.
Here are his thoughts:
I immediately liked these probiotics. They were very potent and worked quickly. Much faster that a lot of other probiotics Jen and I have tried. My digestive system has been really off this year so I was super happy to find probiotics that worked! My bowel movements were restored right away. I am a truck driver and that believe it or not is a super important thing to happen. Frequent stops are generally frowned upon. I didn’t have DAYS of discomfort as they began to work, like some of the other probiotics I have tried. The gastric distress and bloating went away with in the week as did some of the frequent brain fog I was experiencing. I also noticed an increase in energy which Jen told me is a sign that yeast and other contagions were leaving my body. That hasn’t happened with other brands I have used either. Overall I was really surprised and pleased with the response I got from taking 1 pill a day vs other brands where it’s multiple doses. I don’t really have time to remember to take a pill every time I eat and when I am on the road meals aren’t always the same time everyday.
I think this is a fantastic start to healthier living because I am able to digest food much easier. Foods I was staying away from like legumes and vegetables I like I can now eat without any discomfort at all. It’s actually great. I have been able to bring salads and soups with me to work now. To sum up, I am really glad I started taking them. If you have a lactose issue it might be harder for them to work as fast, but I do think they will still work. Jen is going to try taking them after the holidays and she is not so busy so she can tell if they are really are effective for her.
