The Walking Dead S7Ep 12 “Say Yes”
So if you’re Rick what do you do on your victory tour after getting the Garbage Pail kids to sign up on your Negan take down? The answer is creepy campout, sex and raids… followed up with a nice little trip to the local Walker carnival. But I kind of wonder what really will be the outcome of Jandis and her gang. Come on Rick what’s going to happen when you give them guns, lots of guns. So ok they help you take down the Saviors and then what they have all the guns and they start ordering you around and they become the new world order. Could you just imagine a world ran by that crazy lingo and those hideous haircuts?
So basically this episode was about 2 things with just a little bit of Jandis sprinkled at the end. 1. Rick and Michone’s love fest and 2. The ever escalating problem that is Rosita.
Alright, let’s address the ever growing problem in the room.
Rosita, girl, you really got to get your sh*t together. You’re sitting here boohooing about what exactly. Is it still about Abraham breaking up with you, is it about Spencer dying, is it about you being stupid and then getting someone else killed and giving Eugene to Negan. You’re alienating yourself from everyone else. Do you think that your pain is worse than your friends? Is what you’re going through so different than what anyone else in this world has or is experiencing? So you go out on some stupid loner mission thinking that what you’re going to find this huge horde of guns somewhere. Only after taking down white trash looking walker, which seemed very savage like, you find a plastic gun and I just have to say that’s probably what you needed and deserved after all the shade you’ve been throwing around town.
Ok, you’re looking for someone to blame and you only have 2 punching bags, or wait I mean friends (and for you, that word is used loosely) left in this group. Eugene has been taken, which reminder was totally your fault, and now you can’t go bossing and belittling him around. So all that’s left is Father Gabriel, who also seems like the only one who will put up with your extreme attitude and give it back to you in a way that is effective.
Yes, all those other people are dead and you are not. But I just don’t think I believe if you had succeeded in killing Negan (which reminder you did try and you totally failed) that would have stopped even more people from getting hurt or killed. But I think Father Gabriel is seeing a much bigger picture here, like is he actually planning something. Because now it’s like he’s not only prepped Rosita but he’s also got her rage burning even stronger. “How you going to make what needs to happen happen. Anything is possible till your heart stops beating.” It’s like you’re in on this secret plan to take out Negan Father Gabriel but now… now you got Sasha involved and it’s clear these women have a one track mind and one way or another this ‘plan’ is not going to end well.
Side note: All that tough love you were giving Eugene really seems like it may have been a determent to his growth in the apocalypse, Rosita. He didn’t need someone to baby him, or constantly beat down his ego. Look at him now over with the Saviors and he is like, thriving. Not only is his special kind of genius obviously appreciated but he seems to be taking charge and possibly devising some sort of coo plan?
“Say Yes” was really a showcase of Rick and Michone. Sure at the end, he was talking to Jandis and being all no you don’t get to keep all the guns and that weird cat says yes… but really wasn’t the episode more about Rick and Michone getting (as Yvette Nicole Brown so cleverly pointed out) apocalypse married. Seeing these two out there by themselves I can see why Rick would want to keep pushing this little vacation as long as he can. But Rick… the world isn’t going to stop turning just because you are gone. Jandis is still going to have a deadline, Negan is still going to have a deadline, your family is still split and hello… Judith and Carl are still growing. Like, when did Judith grow up? Oh, you probably don’t know cause really when was the last time you saw her?
But alone with Michone, you’re not only looking physically better but your whole attitude is something I just don’t think we’ve ever seen. You’re laughing, making jokes, making excellent plans. And I think you might have gotten married? And it’s kind of nice to see that after everything you’ve been through, done and seen you kind of know that the Rictatorship doesn’t work anymore. But checks and balances of Rick and Michone now that is something that could work. If the Junkyard kids don’t ruin everything before you try and take down Negan.
I also wonder if we will ever find out why there were all those solders at the carnival and what was with those Walkers with their hands tied…. Could it be something to do with Jandis? I kind of think so, but I’m not always good with my crazy theories. Hand tied walkers may be something we never learn about so naturally, that will be something that will always nag at me.
It seems like everyone is coming to the realization that in the fight against Negan there will be a lot of causalities. And everyone seems ok with the fact it might be them. But Rick, the endless poet he is, really put it the best.
“It’s not about us anymore. It’s about the Future.”
And ‘That’s a Wrap’ for “Say Yes.” I am just hoping that the glimpse of new-old Carol killing Walkers means she is ready to be a part of the world again and not go back on the run. A bloody battle is coming and I have to start mentally preparing for any of my favorites to fall.
