“The Other Side”
This episode was like the many faces of Maggie and Sasha. For 2 people who seem to be an awful lot alike and be going through the same kind of griefs they sure do take different roads.
Maggie is looking on the bright side. Seeing this community that is well put together but needs a little guidance. You know a place that she can raise little Glenn in a kind of peace. Instead of picking up weapons she’s trying to teach.
Sasha is planning and really thinking through how she’s going to take down Negan. But it seems like she’s really looking for a way to do it that wont affect the other people she loves. Instead of teaching with words she’s teaching Hilltop how to fight.
And they are going to need that knowledge
Maggie, Jesus and Daryl oh my…
So… Maggie and Jesus are just never going to happen. I guess I totally misread all those ‘longing’ looks Jesus was giving Maggie. I guess it was more like a ohhhh this is how things are supposed to be run I’m going to follow you kind of look. Cause Jesus likes the fellows.
I still think that Jesus and Gregory might know each other some how. Maybe they aren’t family… maybe they were lovers?
Then there is Maggie and Daryl. Like what a crazy gut wretching yet heart warming kind of moment. Poor Daryl, sitting just out of reach in the cold blaming himself for Glenn’s death. But really, what were the chances that they were going to get out of that awful situation with only one casualty. But then in one beautiful moment Daryl apologizes and Maggie tells him it wasn’t his fault. The thing that Daryl needed to move forward.
Does Gregory have a redeeming quality somewhere deep, deep down in his bones…
Even contemplating if Gregory can become a redeemable character like Father Gabriel makes me feel all wrong inside. But every now and then there seems to be this kind of glimmer every now and then the real Gregory stands up. Here he has a chance to once again throw Maggie, Sasha and especially Daryl under the bus when Simon shows up for Doc but he barley even hints at it.
Ok there is that moment when he is all well you know I’m easy to deal with if someone else came into power then they might not be so cooperative. But in a surprising turn of events when Simon pressed the subject Gregory deflected.
So is the giant ass we once thought he was possibly going to see the light of day? Does he see all the nice things that Maggie can help him do for his people, the things that taking down the Saviors could mean for him. Ahhhhhh…. I just don’t know what to believe anymore, Gregory you confuse me!
The long road of Sasha and Rosita…
Well… I mean… well.
So Sasha finally breaks down Rosita’s barriers and we get to see who the real Rosita is and kind of figure out why she is so ridiculously angsty over Abraham even though he dumped her forever ago.
As a person so use to using people till she acquired what she could from them and then just packing up and leaving she never thought that reaching Alexandria and kind of settling in Abraham would be the one to get all his shit together first… and then leave her. And Abraham was really the first guy that she encountered that didn’t treat her like she was completely incapable of taking care of herself and defending herself.
Now her on this hunt to not only take out Negan but save Eugene who is kind of like the last piece of the person she had become with Abraham. Is saving Eugene and having him around to protect kind of like Rosita saving the last shred of who she was before she started going off the deep end post Negan?
And then there is Eugene…
Ok, so he refused their help in escaping but here’s something he may have thought out as he was cowering on the ground.
The reasons Rosita was so attached to Abe kind of the same thing with Eugene and Negan. Negan is really the first person to see his worth and treat him like he is totally capable of surviving. Also there is the protection and fact that he wont have to kneel down to anyone again… or will he…
Also… so let’s say Eugene takes off with the lovely ladies. Then what? Clearly he has become important to Negan. So that clearly means he is going to come looking for him. So really does Eugene have a choice? If he leaves he puts himself and his friends in danger. Is it more worth it to get closer to Negan or live in fear on the outside?
No matter what kind of cowardly move it looks like Eugene is pulling I just can’t believe that he would turn so quickly on his friends. He is clearly a super smart fellow there has to be a long run game in that mulletly head of his! And ‘That’s a Wrap’ for “The Other Side”
