I am an ambassador for Raging Waves and received complimentary admission tickets (and meal tickets for some events).
We had THE BEST TIME being an ambassador for Raging Waves this summer. We went quite a few times, brought a slew of children and friends plus got to enjoy a cabana by the wave pool on our last week before school started. My oldest daughter’s favorite ride was the giant ride called Boomerang. I actually have a video of her and my friend Susie (from Rosie Discovers) trying it out for the first time:
One of the days we visited we arrived a little before the park actually opened and was treated to a “behind the scenes” view of what it takes to make those awesome waves in the GREAT BARRIER REEF WAVE POOL.
The barrels that propel the water were huge. Massive. It takes a lot of power to churn 25,000 square foot pool of water. It was impressive. We also got to see the little contraption they came up with to clean out the KOOKABURRA KREEK. Very inventive. 🙂
As I have mentioned in my other posts, I love the emphasis on safety at Raging Waves. I got to see first hand how well the life guards do their job. One day that we were there a woman and her two kids got in over their heads at the end of the wave pool and the life guards not only caught it, saw the woman struggling but were there in record time. They have a red stop button on their stands that stops the waves almost immediately. As a former lifeguard, I was very impressed. It just reinforced to me that my kids are very safe. I also saw signs around the park that said “If your child is in the water, you should be too”. I have never seen that at any of the other parks I have visited or didn’t notice them. The signs were prominently displayed.
My nephews were super impressed with the wave pool. Check out the video and hear their squeals of excitment as we got to see the wave pool started for the first time that day:
It was right by the wave pool. I could watch my 8 year old and make sure she had a big person with her while I sat, ate the awesome snacks that came with the cabana and read. It was so relaxing and definitely an awesome way to end our summer.
To wrap up, we had a blast and feel very privileged to have been a part of Raging Waves Ambassador program. I have to say that the staff that works there are super friendly, the park is always clean and we always had a good time even when it was hot and crowded. I can’t wait for next year!
