So, if you are a regular reader of my blog you know how challenging the last year of my life has been health wise. My family has also had it’s share of other challenges other than my health, so it’s been a really long year.
I am a firm believer in karma. I try really hard to do an act of kindness everyday, even if it’s just holding a door for some one or going out of my way to do something even if I don’t feel like it or don’t feel well. Lately I have felt like being the good person or doing the right thing isn’t paying off. People, who will remain nameless, regardless of knowing my situation…have been talking behind my back, making comments about my situation, forming judgements about my life and basically just being mean. My kids are everything. They have made a lot of sacrifices in their short lives because of my health. I will not move to a cheaper place to live to make myself more comfortable and completely uprooting their life for a second time in 4 years for that comfort. I have had a really hard time not stooping to their levels and I have been trying to surround myself with positive people with uplifting attitudes.
Like everybody else, we are on a tight budget. My husband is a truck driver and we have three kids. The money only goes so far. One of the reasons I enjoy doing giveaways is to help people like me win things they otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford. This time of the year is the most important to do that. I put some stuff on layaway to ensure my fantastic kids got a couple of things on their wish list that we otherwise couldn’t afford.
Fast Forward to Friday- I worked an extra day this week to make up for not working a full week next week due to Winter break. Needless to say my body wasn’t having it. My Fibro kept trying to rear it’s ugly head and take over. I wasn’t having it and was trying really hard to fight it. The kids at school are just as ready for Winter break as me and their attitudes were reflecting it. When I got home I was tired, sore and and horribly a touch crabby. I noticed a message on my cell phone from a number I didn’t recognize. The message was a Walmart employee telling me a Good Samaritan paid off my layaway and to come pick it up. What?!?!?! I had heard of this happening lately, but to me??? When I went to pick it up they said a woman who wanted to remain anonymous had wanted to pay one layaway for a specific amount with kids toys. That layaway was mine. I was shocked, overwhelmed, uber appreciative and grateful beyond belief. I seriously can not describe in words how I felt.
So thank you kind woman, my personal Santa, whoever you are. You and the universe wanted to remind me that I am on the right path. To stay the course. And that yes, there is a Santa Claus.
I hope one day I am in the position to return the favor.
Happy Holidays!
