Power through with DayQuil, Sleep Like A Baby With NyQuil
So if you are a mom like me, somewhere along the line when people where telling you what to expect when you where expecting, they left out the part about not getting sicks days. Remember those days when you were sick and you could snuggle down in your bed with a good book and plenty of naps? Yeah, me either. Being a Mom, we tend to put our family’s needs and overall health before our own.
Knowing we can’t take a sick day from being Mom, there are a few things I try to do to prevent getting sick.
- First of all the old stand by of washing your hands regularly and trying not to touch your face if you can’t.
- I avoid touching any kind of railing, handle bar or knob in a public place if I can help it.
- I use my sleeve to open doors, my foot to flush the toilet and always hand sanitize my hand even after I washed them in a public bathroom.
- Keep antibacterial wipes in your purse, diaper bag and car. I use them in restaurants, bathrooms, even movie theaters.
- Gargle with salt water if you have been with a big group of people. It helps keep strep and other viruses from getting in your system. Take it from some one who had strep 5 times a year when I was young, it works. Since I started doing it in my teens I have never had strep since. Adults can get strep. It’s harder but actually worse when you are older.
Yes I am a germaphobe. A big one. Having a 9 week early preemie will do that to you. Funny thing is? I work at a school. I am crazy, but I have worked with kids since I have been 14 years old and it’s a hard habit to break.
Luckily when I was in high school I found this wonderful medicine called NyQuil for those times when those germs have formed a sneak attack but you can not stay in bed. It got me through tests, finals and dreary New England days. I think my attendance record would have been way worse if not for NyQuil. I never would have slept. I am one of those people who can’t sleep during the night when I am sick. I am like a Zombie. Then DayQuil came into my life. Now I had a medicine that helped me through the day with my congestion and coughing. I used both together with very little side effects. I am pretty sure DayQuil and NyQuil got me through those first couple of years when my oldest kids started school, starting contracting every germ known to man and then giving them to me. My husband worked nights then and I was basically a single parent most of the time. There really were absolutely no sick days then!

I highly recommend this product, we use it on all the family members but my 6 year old. They changed the formula awhile back but we haven’t really noticed too much of a difference. So tell me…what do you do when you can’t take a sick day? How do you prevent yourself from getting sick?
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Vicks DayQuil & NyQuil. I received product samples and a promotional item as a thank you for participating. Positive review was not required. Please refer to my TOS.
